Mr Collins, Deloitte & Touche, among other things, supervises the drawing of Canada's Loto 6/49. Why would supervision of such an important matter be awarded to a disreputable firm ?

Everybody interested in Deloitte & Touche please read this!!

Oh.. get a grip Serge. First of all they are an international accounting and management consulting firm with offices all around the world.. UK, Netherlands, Japan, China, Turkey, etc.

Here is a link to their Canadian site if anyone is interested:
deloitte.ca

The following provides some indication of the size of their operation

"Deloitte & Touche is one of Canada's leading firms of chartered accountants and management consultants, with more than 550 partners and 4,500 staff in 56 offices across the country. In Quebec, the firm operates as Samson Bélair/Deloitte & Touche. Deloitte & Touche is part of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, a global leader in professional services with more than 82,000 people in over 130 countries. "

In terms of their consulting practices (from their US site)...
"If any company in the world can speak to size and complexity, it's Microsoft. So, we were gratified to hear this from John Connors, Microsoft Corporation's Chief Information Officer: "Because our business is so global, any implementation team has to be able to provide us with global services and global expertise . . . one that will use the best practices learned from global implementations in businesses similar and dissimilar to ours. We feel Deloitte Consulting has the requirements we need for our current and future implementations."

I could go on and on.. but I won't. Enough said!!! No I don't work for them!

You're right that Deloitte & Touche have found themselves in the unfortunate position of being the auditors of many troubled Canadian companies recently. But to discredit them is inappropriate. D&T is one of the big five accounting firms, and even with D&T's recent troubles, they still maintain extremely high credibility. One would certainly prefer a major C.A. firm as the Company's auditor over something like Biff's Chartered Accountants (who can be manipulated and pressured by management - yes, it even happens at D&T (see Livent). Questioning the stature of D&T, even given its recent history, is inappropriate and is nothing more than a waste of time. I would be more concerned if the Company announced that it wants to change its auditors. Look for real red flags and disregard this one.
