Yes, there are beaches here, not in Manhattan though. You have to go to Brooklyn or Long Island or Coney Island. Not the best beaches but there are nice ones. I actually am three blocks from the East River which has one of the most incredible views in the world of the Manhattan skyline - I run along there every day. I love it here, but also enjoy the beach but not enough to give this up. I was in your neighborhood last August, stayed in Carlsbad and checked out San Diego, LA and surrounding areas. Loved Laguna Beach the most. Enjoyed the surfers but you guys on the West Coast go home too early! My friend and I were ready to get out at 10pm and no one was around! It was definitely different from here, we are a bit more neurotic. Thanks again for the help and enjoy your beautiful coast! If you ever come East to NYC, I would be happy to fill you in on the hot spots! See You!
