RE:" especially
considering that the K6-3 400 sells for over $170 less. (And only misses
approximately 7% of the 450's performance level). "...

Sounds like the crap Intel has been pulling for years.
A few % and a whole lot more money.

Jim...

PS:K6-III-450 should drop shortly.

PB Re <<MD finally shipped the K6-3 450 CPU, only eight weeks after it was supposed to arrive on the market.>>

K6-III 450 has been shipping for a while. It has been available from Pricewatch for a while. Local vendors in San Diego have had it for a while also. OEM's such as Compaq and Cybermax have had computers based on it available from stock for weeks as well. May be the volume is now more significant and that is what sharkeyextreme is referring to.

I realize that the above quote which I argued are from Sharkeyextreme and not you, :)

PB, from sharkeyextreme <<a cost of $404, we wonder exactly who the K6-3 450 is aimed at, especially considering that the K6-3 400 sells for over $170 less.>>

This is nothing new, it has been true for years for both AMD and Intel. This argument is actually more valid with PIII 450 and 500.

This Sharkeyextreme dude is a complete idiot!
