In response to your post on " Listen to this small voice inside..." I currently live 3 blocks from Columbine H.S. This event has impacted me deeply. I thought a few years back when I moved here how nice it would be that my 2 children (now 1 & 3 yrs old) may eventually go to that High School. I've thought about this a lot over the last two days of how you can prevent this. President Clinton believes that he can offer a solution, and there are those that would say that it's government's duty to prevent this type of event...bull pucky! I would propose that Mr. Clinton stop wasting his time on selective tax breaks and give everyone an across the board tax cut. Stop the stupid marriage penalty tax. Penalize a two parent income family. Make it more lucrative to keep one parent home to raise children. Don't institute government programs for child care system. Let's put these people out of business. My mother was home for me when I grew up. My wife and I decided that our children would not be raised in a day care center and she became a stay-at-home mom. Teach children morals, teach children discipline, show your children you care! Metal detectors are not the answer, so what if these 2 hate mongers had to walk through a metal detector, they would have done it anyway. So what if you tried to regulate greater gun control. There is gun control in place now and they did it anyway. Only by taking responsibility for having children by taking the responsibility to raise those children can we reduce the probability of another Columbine H.S. The Media didn't do this... I used to watch westerns as a kid and saw lots of actors get "killed " on tv. But I knew it wasn't real. But I knew that the men coming home from Vietnam in boxes was real, but I also knew that this was a tragedy. Thank you for letting me on the soap box. Jim
