Those people in Australia and Great Britain seem to be pretty happy and they have strict gun controls. The real question is: why do we want to live in the U.S. and its high violent crime rate when we could live more peacefully elsewhere (i.e. Great Britain or Australia).
Sure some people think shooting ranges are fun. I like tennis, myself. But I'd give up tennis in a second if it would limit violent crimes.

Who would want to live in a place where the right to own a gun is taken away. A place where a person can not even transport a firearm. There are no gun stores, no shooting ranges. If the police catch someone traveling through your neighborhood they will confiscate their legally stored gun even though federal laws prohibits this. Who would want to live in a place like this???

I THANK GOD THAT I DO!!!!!
I live in the UK and I don't have to explain to my children that it is still safe to go to school. I am glad that there is an extremely low likelihood that any madman I may come across has a gun. In the US (where I did live for 9 yrs) this is always a much higher possibility.
