Lucas seems to be pretty serious about
the prospect that he has created a nice
legend with these Jedi and The Force. He
is a smart businessman, so naturally he's
going to look and sound serious--the Myth
and Men story in TIME I thought was a bit
heavy...but what the heck, this guy can
say whatever he wants as far as I'm concerned,
I'll be there in line on opening day, even
if I don't expect to have a very spiritual
experience watching Jedi whomp on evil dudes.

Lucas has said that he is retelling a legend of
good and evil...which just repeats as generations
go by. The Force he says is in there to awaken
spirituality. Well, I don't know about that, but
his heart is in the right place. You could argue
that the only real significant thing Lucas has
added to the old stories are very very impressive
effects, and a person would do well not to look
for spirituality at the movies...but I digress.

I am throwing this out there for the thread--what
other legends would you say rate high up there
along with this telling of the Jedi story? I have
my own favorite--which I personally like more than
the Jedi story (at least til I see the new movie,
heheh)...but I want to hear about others entries
before I mark mine down.
