You know FredE is short (physically), right Fred. What a laugh! Since the MediaOne deal was announced, the price hasn't gone anywhere. IMO, it wouldn't, even if whatever happens with MediaOne.

I guess we now know the answer to whether the AT&T/TCI's bid for MediaOne is bullish or bearish for CUBE.

This positive sentiment is just starting to grow. But more importantly, the market is beginning to understand that C-Cube Microsystems is a NETWORKING company that is able to supply its own silicon.

"What are the consequences for CUBE regarding this apparent new bid for MediaOne from AT&T?"

Here's one possible scenario.

Perhaps AT&T evaluated the end to end solution they ended up with with the TCI purchase, didn't like what they saw and have decided use MediaOnes Divicom based solutions.
After all the GI solution uses DiviCom in the headend anyway and the DCT-5000 box is still being designed...

Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but so is an INTC buyout.
