You have to love this. Consummate deal-maker that he is, the clause giving MSFT veto power over Roadrunner's first selection of a CEO was added at Mr. Maffei's insistence. giggle. Gates will do well to consider the opportunity here, all joking aside. According to the WSJ, a deal for Maffei could involve Roadrunner cutting a deal with MSFT to provide the software systems for the high-speed Internet access and digital TV empire Roadrunner is supposed to deliver for Time and MediaOne.
