I was going to do one of those trial AOL memberships to check out the chat rooms because I've never used AOL and my broker bought some of it. But now, no need, I can get that same experience from this thread!

Anyway there have been a few articles recently apparently on portals, their valuations being in question. If you look at the recent blowout results of inkt (which has a business model like a software company), they posted a blowout based on this huge proliferation of portals. IVillage is another new portal and with the new investments amazon is becoming a portal... in fact every site can actually make a go at transforming itself into a portal if you think about it and the question is whether or not gnet has the critical mass to rise above all of that. For this reason I think there could be further weakness in the stock, unless gnet shows that it can hold its own amid all the noise.

Heres one of these articles:

Moving into the top20 webproperties will help attract coverage by investment pro's. Jesse Berst's coverage may not have emphasised the strengths of GNET, but at least the Go2Net name name was there, and it was spelt right! ( Sorry i get my spelling of Reel-NWK confused sometimes, whatever)
At worst, it doesn't matter how you get into the top15, from here.
At best, we'll continue to be surprised by GNET's results
