The US embassy in Macedonia is under extreme pressure right now; a bunch of SI members calling them is the last thing in the world that will help. This is not the White house switchboard.

I finally got Pat Walsh on the phone. Arrogance is an understatement It took going thru 3 people and a few good lies to actually get him to answer the call. He played ignorant to the mission of Anthony and I asure you I informed him. I also let him know he was being scrutinized and that this bunch was not going to sit still for this. We are all tax paying (well most of us) individuals and he is a government employee. I let him know that we wanted all the help possible from his end and that if we didn't get it we would do everything possible to turn this into a national story focusing on his incopetence and arrogance. It took about 30 minutes but I finnally got him to at least agree to meet with Tony and let Tony tell him his plans and wishes. He kept regurgitating US Immigration policy and I basically said "so what" now what can you do. He also kept stating that he was in no position to authorize flight or entrance of orphans. I told him that I felt it was his job to do whatever possible to clear those hurdles for Tony and that we would all be watching to see how effective he is. All that being said I do not have one ounce of confidence in this man. He seemed like he was saying what he knew it would take to get me off the phone. He was very displeased that he even took the call, it was evident. He also threatened to hang up on me several times and I informed him (a lie) that I was recording his call and would gladly play it for the news and he could then try and decide how to tell the American People why he hung up on an American citizen for calmly voicing his concerns and requests. Anthony, I hope all is well. I have given your message to people and will continue to do so , asking for any amount of cash contribution possible. I am glad to help you on your mission, just wish I could do more. I can promise you that many congressmen will be hearing the Bear growl over the next few days. I have left a message for you at TV-ERA and Mr Walsh says he will meet with you on Monday. He also said he would try and call you at the TV-ERA station to confirm a time with you. Please let me know if that imcompetent government employee does not keep this agreement. I realize that agreements in that part of the world aren't worth a whole lot today. Be Safe my friend, they tell me you are in very good hands. ;-)
