Bullshit. As Daniel Yergin has said about the oil industry, no matter how many interesting players, motives, and tactics I look at, there are only two central characters: supply and demand.

Just a little while ago, the weak sister was Maxtor. The big three didn't have the gumption to unleash a massive price war and knife the baby or consolidate it out. Once the capital infusions come in, those opportunities disappear. WDC isn't exiting anytime soon.

Or it could be just what happens everyone tries to do the same thing-increase market share-SEG, MXTR and WDC all looking for up units.
