To survive, a company must be willing to re-invent itself.
Intel used to sell DRAM. They got out when it was commoditized by the japanese and they turned to microprocessors.
The internet is hot; thus Intel and Microsoft are re-inventing themselves to take advantage of this hot opportunity.
