Does anyone here think that the EXTREMELY rich bid AT&T/TCI made for MediaOne is bearish for GIC? MediaOne is the only cable co. that has a truly "open" architecture for their STB's.

I think AT&T is going to force GIC to conform to the "open" standards whether GIC wants to or not (SFA too). This development would obviously erode greatly GIC's pricing power and greatly benefit AT&T/TCI. I think that was a significant factor in AT&T's bid calculus.

GIC has become a tech stock value play at this P/E. With a legitimate
top line growth rate of approx 25% annual, earnings performance should
accelerate.

ANTC, SFA, HLIT, CCBL are all performing as HFC rollouts
have intensified, GIC looks the most compelling at this price.

GIC has really underperformed the Cable equip. stocks in the last 6 months, perhaps this will fix itself. With a close above $36 the next resistance would appear to be around $40. A breakout above this level would put us in uncharted waters.

This assumes that the overall market remains strong....no saying what
will happen in a tech meltdown.
