Scrapps et al,

I've heard of DSL-lite, but has anyone heard of DSL-"xtra"lite?

The reason I ask is I contacted SBC about availability of DSL line in my area north of Houston. They said that even though it was available, because I was further than 3 miles from the station that I would NOT be able to sign up for the 384k-1.5M service that was presently being offered. However, she said that they would be rolling out an i-DSL system 3rd quarter of this year that I WOULD be able to connect to. This would only allow me 144k up and down the line and would be for DATA ONLY, not the combination of voice and data that DSL-lite would offer. While I was upset that I wouldn't be able to get the connection I wanted, it would still be faster than my present 128k-ISDN connection and a heck of a lot cheaper. This NEW system would not have the distance limitations DSL-lite would have. Therefore, just think of the vast number of additional customers this opens up to the DSL world.

Now, I don't know if the technology used in the "x-lite" DSL system is AWRE's, I would imagine that it would be. Anyone else have a clue to this?
