IDSL is not Aware, in fact, even the 1.5M service is not Aware. Alcatel is the market leader in DSL. Most Aware investors have no clue. Tim

Retired huh Gary? San Ardo must have gone dry. <g> As to your question on xtra lite...Here is this from xDSL.Com

"ISDN Digital Subscriber Line- Uses ISDN transmission technology to deliver data at 128 Kbps into an IDSL "modem bank" connected to a router."

And this...

"xDSL
A generic term for the suite of DSL services, where the "x" can bereplaced with any of a number of letters, including "A," "H," "M," "RA,""S," and "V." See also Asymmetrical DSL, High Bit Rate DSL, Moderate SpeedDSL, Rate Adaptive DSL, Symmetric DSL, and Very High Data Rate DSL."

I myself have not heard of xtra-lite DSL that I can recall, not to say it doesn't exist. It could be a brand or trade name, but I think they're talking about the first definition above. However, I'm an investor in AWRE and like all AWRE investors know very little...then there is Tim who is a real hole in the ground, but again I don't know my as_ from a hole in the ground. <g>

Gary, I'm sure that is just a branding strategy SBC is using. IDSL was originated by Ascend. Now, Cisco, Pulsecom and a few others have it. Technically, the line code used is 2B1Q, just like ISDN. The difference is that it is a point to point connection and does not go through the central office voice switch like ISDN does. Additionally, it can be repeated and go through DLC systems, therefore it does not have the same distance limitations and backplane limitations as ADSL. The problem is it only goes 144Kbps. That is still slow compared to ADSL, but better than analog if you can't get ADSL.

Aware has absolutely nothing to do with IDSL technology, as it uses 2B1Q line coding.
