HI Cobalt, I agree that they probably (the boys) were picked on. I also think in their misery they watch Basket Ball Diary and really related to it (the scene when the kid in the trench coat shoots up the class). Hard not to be dragged into the dark side of life if you feel you don't fit in and you can't escape not fitting in. I think high school can be a horrible experience for many kids. No excuse to kill but I guess I can see how it can happen.
