How to destroy EBAY in 5 easy steps?

1) Start a competing auction site.
(answer: EBAY already has competition. Like, they're really going to worry about yours)

2) Contract all of EBAY's established vendors to use your site exclusively for a small fee.
(answer: EBAY is just dying to give you their vendor list. And vendors are just dying to be tied into an exclusive relationship with your Auction Site only.)

3) Offer free auctions to the public, thereby forcing EBAY to do the same.
(answer: Piece of cake, all you need is deeper pockets than EBAY and wait them out. Sounds reasonable to me)

4) Short 1 million shares of EBAY.
(answer: Sure, just show your broker 200 million dollars collateral to cover your principal. And, er...a little more if the stock inadvertently goes up)

5) Watch the blood flow in the streets.
(answer: Yours!!)

Sounds like a foolproof plan to me. I'm eager to see you get started.

That's the easy part!

2) Contract all of EBAY's established vendors to use your site exclusively for a small fee.
Do you really want these vendors to go bankrupt? That's a good way to do it.

3) Offer free auctions to the public, thereby forcing EBAY to do the same.
Yahoo! Auction is free. And Yahoo has already given up on the hope to beat EBAY due to its dismal result. You may need to beat Yahoo Auction first before you are qualified to enter the ring with EBAY.

4) Short 1 million shares of EBAY.
Nice try! I suggest that you do that for the thrill of the day.

5) Watch the blood flow in the streets.
Who's blood? LOL.

Have you been living living in a cave? There are already a plethora of
free auction sites, like Yahoo's.
