Chuzzlewit, I think your approach is interesting. The one problem I have with indexes is that they tend to be distorted by unusual earnings events & currently by internet mania (stocks with huge price and no earnings). Do you have a way around that? Warren Buffet approach that I have read about basically discounts future revenue using long-term treasury to determine present value as I recall. What do you think of that method? Problem I have with all analysis of value is the estimates? Valuation still appears to be more art than actual science. Because of this, I try to find companies who will cover up my valuation mistakes with long-term consistent earnings growth.
