Hi Jon, I was referring to several different things in that posting.

Part of it mentioned the benefit of pay-as-you-go servers over an upfront capital expenditure of say 1,500 PCs/sw for a load of say 1.5m.

The other part of the posting referred to NC/handhelds (i.e. focused functionality) connecting to a website with this same functionality, e.g. DictionaryInternetAppliance connects to say www.dictionary.com, maybe StockInternetApp connects to www.quotes.com, and maybe MapsApp connects to maps.com, etc. [Is anyone working on common NW APIs for these Internet Appliances (IA) to use?]

Regarding the "shrink-wrapped package will be out" comment, that's been kicked around the street. I started with this comment (i.e. PayPerUse for sw) because it's an older concept which helped me lead into the newer concept of pay-as-you-use PC farms.
