A better question should be...who cares more about offering high speed access, the cable companies or the phone companies? I got DSL because after being promised by my local cable company over the last 2 yrs that they will implement cablemodem access, they have yet to do so...So as soon as DSL was introduced by my phone company, I went for it...If ever cablemodem access finally comes to my town, I will compare prices...but right now it would take alot for me to give up my DSL...the price was right...Installation was free, Modem price was $99 with a $50 rebate from the modem company...and charged to my phone bill in installments over the next 3 months...and at $39.95 per month, I'm not paying much more for the new services - by disconnecting my 2nd phone line($16.95 per month-no longer needed, since DSL offers fast modem access AND voice on the same line), and disconnecting my previous ISP($19.95 per month)...Now I have 640k/second access speeds and while know cable can top that speed...try downloading files during prime time, and see if you'll actually reach the speeds cable promises....why pay more for a ferarri, when a corvette is cheaper, and both cars are in a traffic jam?
