Tench,

Re:"AMD will be driven out of the low-end market not because of any lack of integrated Super 7 chipsets, but because AMD will not be able to make any money in this low-end. For every Whitney platform, Intel gets to sell both a Celeron and a Whitney chipset. Margins are thin, but Intel can make up for it in volume. But for every integrated Super 7 platform, AMD only gets to sell a K6-2 at dirt-cheap prices. Margins are thin, and AMD can't make up for it in volume."

Dream ON!!!!

Folks like Ali,Via etc are NOT going away and integrated chipsets are on the way with 133Mhz FSB support. And the only CPU they will be supporting will be AMD as Cyrix goes socket 370. They can only sell into 370 market if their chip sets are better or equal to Whitney.

You will be AMAZED at the number of folks who prefer a K6-2 running an integrated or even a non integrated chipset.

Regards,

Kash

Ten,

Why else do you think I keep saying that AMD's only hope of making money is to move out of the low-end and into the K6-III and K7?

I think that we both have been saying that ;^)
