"I also smell another major news release along with earnings"

Maybe they will announce that AOL membership is way past 17 million, and on the way to 18 million. It will be good for 20+ points.

I have 4 co-workers who signed up with AOL in last 3 months. All 4 remained AOL members past that 100 free hour period.

One of my friends once said the market is like a crap game during the earnings period. I get the feeling a lot of people are nervous waiting for the anticipated good earnings. Again this is a grit your teeth period, why did you buy the stock in the first place? Oh well I just hope we all do well next week... I have no opinion on what the earnings might be... the consolidation with netscape will be a big one time write down ... the sale of stock will be a positive... all those new accounts will be what already is priced in. So what does it all mean? being In the stock market is like being in a crap game...Just I think we are all holding good dice... AOL.
GO AOL GO ..................COME ON GOOD NUMBERS

<<....In answer to your question as to how I think AOL will do earnings wise..............they will blow earnings away. I also smell another major news release along with earnings.>>

Vendit, my interpretation for indicators are as follows:

** warning 2 to 3 weeks prior to earnings release (CPQ) = will not meet expectations and results in expectations being revised downwards

** no comments leading upto earnings release = will meet analysts' expectations

** comfortable = will easily meet and possibly blowout whisper number and project exponential growth (remember DELL of yesteryears)

We shall soon see. Also AOL's silence for such a long time is deafening. Inclusion in the DOW, buyout of streaming company RNWK, rival bid for MediaOne, buyout of CBS (to me this is a remote possibility) are some of the things crossing my mind.
