Paul, Re: I assume this will be a 600 MHz Alpha 21264 system - right?

I would be interested to see a 600Mhz 21264. The best that
Compaq has at the moment is 525Mhz.

Rob - Re: " API (the Samsung folks) are set to announce a < $1000 Linux box in
the next week or so. "

Please let us know when this product is announced.

I assume this will be a 600 MHz Alpha 21264 system - right?

No, most likely a 700 MHz EV57 (.25 shrink of 21164) I believe around 17-18 SpecInt95 and *I think* 25 or so on floating point. Certainly not a barn burner but quite competitive with P IIs. At 1 cm2 quite cheap too. I don't expect to see much cheaper Alpha boxes with 21264 until it volume ships in .28/.25 micron feature size.
