Craig,

If I remember correctly, minute Krill -- protein of the sea -- live on the same kind of algae and provide the mainstay for many kinds of whales. True?

I believe so. Besides gorillas and elephants, blue whales are also vegetarians. Where did the theory that vegetarians lack protein come from? Given that the worlds largest and strongest animals do not eat meat, there appears to be a credibility issue.

Do you remember from grade school those nutrition charts showing the need for a "balanced diet"? Do you know who provides those charts for the schools? The American Dairy Council.

Yesterday we attended a dance recital in Palo Alto. The studio is considered to be the top one in the region. I noted that the 12-15 year old class had 9 out of 15 students who clearly showed signs of onsetting obesity. Obesity affects the majority of adults in this country and cancer rates have gone through the roof. Something is clearly wrong with the American diet.
