With regard to the last two posts which seemed extremely bearish. A stock like LZRC does not come along very often that changes an industry so dramatically. The Lasix procedure eliminates the need for contacts and glasses. I had the procedure done and it took less than 20 minutes to do. Most of the time was spent prepping me for the surgery. The surgery took less than 3 minutes per eye. I was able to fly and drive the next day. My vision was 20/300 and I had astigmatism in both eyes. I am now 20/20.
Many amazing growth stocks do not fit the normal investment rules. Look at MicroSoft and Amgen both have extraordinary P/E's but would not be bought by many of you. LZRC's latest revenues of 40 Million for the third quarter compared to last years third quarter of 11 Million is remarkable. The number of candidates for the procedure are also remarkable. They have done this procedure on Wade Boggs, Troy Aikmann and numerous Olympic athletes.
What convinced me to have the procedure done was that most of the best eye doctors in the US were having it done on their eyes. They did not do this when RK and PRK were being done. Also, the fact that the procedure did not require implants which often cause problems and lawsuits as in the $100.00 procedure mentioned in the previous post.
In reference to the extraordinary charge relating to goodwill and closing an unprofitable division is only going to accelerate earnings. In fact when this was announced the stock went from 32.50 US to over 38.50 US in the last three days. Why shouldn't insiders sell some stock and share it with us. They will still own over 15% of the company and the company will use the proceeds of the 2.6 million shares to accelerate growth. Each office does between 200-250 of these procedures each month. There are more than 55 offices and they charge $4800.00. Simple math gets you to 170 million for 1999 and over 200 million for 2000. You can be scared out by the high multiples, but then again I'll bet you did not own MicroSoft or Amgen.
Peter Lynch said to invest in what you know and I could not agree more. LZRC is the leader, they have the top professional in the country, their offices are run well and they exceeded all of my expectations. So if your going to sell your shares I will be continuing to buy on a quarterly basis. I presently own 4,000 shares for the long term and expect LZRC to be a billion dollar company in five years. I do not see many other stocks that have this kind of growth potential and that change an industry as much as this one.
