If TLC buys Beacon Eye, TLC will be the largest laser vision correction (LVC) provider in U.S., North America, based on number of lasers (about 50). Of course, Laser Vision Centers (LVCI) will still provide access at the most sites (100+ by now, thanks to their laser trailers), but like LVCI, TLC has been aggressive and prudent, and might turn profitable in 1998 (LVCI WILL turn profitable). So now, the U.S. LVC center industry has boiled down to 3 main players: LZRCF, LVCI, LCAV (VISN doesn't count in my book), a few regional operations (private), and lots of small guys. U.S. industry: 400+ lasers in place, 200,000+ procedures done in 1997, and procedure volume growing steadily. LZRCF: Check it out. | ||||||||||||||
