Yes - I can see why they are deeply offended to the reference to past history - I'm not saying for a minute that I agree with some of the rhetoric - I'm just saying that if you condemn the NATO action you have to address the situation which would have existed had Nato done nothing. I find myself asking another question however, and it is this - since when has it been possible to wage a war without daring to sacrifice one's own? That is the obscenity of this situation and the war in Iraq - one allied loss of a combatant (probably an American) seems to equate to 10,000 of the enemy. I can just see the welcome of the first coffin in Washington, the burial at Arlington. Somewhere along the line we have lost the notion of sacrifice toachieve our ends in war. Ultimately we seem destined to be branded as a bunch of cowards. dd

Hi Searle
I bet many of those poor Serbs who fought so valiantly against oppression during the second world war,and died, are rolling over in their graves at what is happening in their beautiful country to-day.
I would double the bet as to how they must be disalusioned with the kind of leadership their beloved country has had in the last 10 years!
It goes against all they fought and died for. IMHO
