DD : Perhaps naively, perhaps stupidly, I believe if they had kept talking and been more constructive about finding a solution, the debacle may have been avoided.

The rebuilding of Serbia and Kosovo should have happened before they were smashed up. In my experience in SAf, fascism comes from being cornered --- out of fear and desperation. If the Serbs were reassured, and treated with respect, it's my view they, in turn, would have treated the Albanian Kosovars in a similar way. At least, it was worth a try.

<< ...had NATO done nothing. >>

DD, Its brave talk for a Canadian to refer to NATO as championing anything other than a US cause. The NATO war machine consists of 800 US attack aircraft and a total of 200 other aircraft for all other NATO countries involved. Canada has committed 18 planes. If the truth be known, probably 98% of all sorties are made by US planes, or, at the least, are dropping US taxpayer paid ordinance.

So lets be sure that we understand that this is almost exclusively a US action in the Balkans, before you (a Canadian) go flattering yourselves by implying that anyone other than the US is actually doing anything over there.

I repeat. We have no business dropping ordinance on a 600 year-old civil war, a half a world away, that is based in religion.
