I think it's convenient to forget that M'vitch was massing his troops while the talks were
going on - he apparently had absolutely no intention of agreeing>>

There were no talks-Serbia was presented with unacceptable ultimatum for any Serbian gvn - in favor of KLA....debacle could be avoided with talks not ultimatums

<< I don't know what else Nato could have done. >>

How about nothing. Here's what NATO intervention has accomplished so far. Accelorated the "cleansing" to the rate where it is now almost complete. Made M'vitch a national hero (he was going to be voted out in a few months before this). Turned Russia against the United States. Totally destabilized the whole world.

Clearly, doing nothing was the better choice.

Hi DD. You said ...." I think it's convenient to forget that M'vitch was massing his troops while the talks were going on"......
While talks were going on NATO was also massing troops right?
If NATO was so concerned about ethnic cleansing and as they stated they were aware that troops were being massed for this purpose why didn't they bomb these Yugoslav troops instead of bombing the infrastructure of an entire nation.
They didn't even make an attempt to protect those people who are now refuges. Maybe they just wanted to show Europe how much power they have?
Wasn't Melosovich elected to office?
