<<Good parenting might have avoided this situation but I strongly doubt that gun control would make a damn bit of difference. JLA >>

When I was 11 I had a shotgun and a .22 rifle on my gun rack in my bedroom. Ammo on the shelf. In high school many cars had guns in the trunk in the school parking lot during bird season. When I took my SAT my shotgun was standing in the corner of the room. It was opening day and if you finished early you could leave. No shootings at my school.

Odd, I haven't seen a pus pot or infected unit all day. Maybe the finger of God came down and squashed the bug.

JLA, well said! And it echo's what I was thinking about as I was driving home from the store today. If you ask a law abiding citizen, if someone gave you a gun today, would you be afraid of what you might do with it?

The answer of course would be no. If you have the values and decency that most americans possess it would make no difference if you owned a gun or not. So really gun control advocates are people who don't trust other people. It's ok if they own a gun, but not my neighbor! He's a nut and a stupid idiot! He won't teach his kids how to properly handle a weapon or keep it away from young children.

The same mentality which liberals use as justification for controlling our lives in government schools, social security, high taxes and a huge number of other issues. Is the same mentality used with regards to gun control. We don't trust you America! We want more CONTROL over your FREEDOMS!

Under the guise of societal safety we are quickly being stripped of every freedom which made america the place so many yearned for. A unique society, where we always TRUSTED our fellow American to know the difference between right and wrong. And if you abused that freedom you were punished. Second hand smoke, watercraft, boat usage, land freedom, guns, etc etc. For crying out loud, I now have to submit to a yearly inspection by the government in order to keep my sprinkler system! Public safety might be damaged if my back-flow valve mis-operates!! It's nothing more than a 40 dollar a year confiscation of my wealth. But let's not call it what it is. A TAX huh!

When will liberals be happy that we are safe enough from ourselves? When we all have to walk around with catchers outfits on and get permission to cross the street from government safety experts??
