Rob, I can tell you with assurance that Intel understands the problem that it faces as it tries to move into the high-end server space. All well and good, but as you read that article and reflect on your initial question what do you conclude? Are Microsoft and Compaq posturing re: scalability and fault-tolerance? I don't think so. What are these capabilities that won't be added to a Merced platform? They are genuine and make Alpha hardware a differentiator.
