Cisco routers pass varying TCP and UDP port protocols over TCPIP. ICA uses two of these TCPIP ports (TCP 1494 and UDP 1604). By default - CSCO passes these as port numbers as opposed to application name (ICA). According to the announcement - they are just optimizing ICA over TCPIP across CSCO routers. CSCO routers already pass those Citrix protocols today without any problem that I've ever seen. IMO - this is a marketing announcement for us - to increase shareholder value - so I won't complain. However- this is NOT a huge deal from a functional or technical level.

The Internet or service provider networks are powered by CSCO routers - but they're not the only ones - we know that NT/ASND - LU all play strong as well. What about ICA optimization over those routers that are in between CSCO routers on the Internet?

Regardless - it's a good marketing announcement and will likely increase brand awareness for CTXS - to executives who have already invested dollars in CSCO technology.
