RR PLC (aerospace) and Vickers' RR autos had only the name in common. When VW bought Bentley and leased the RR name for autos, RR PLC, controlling the name and in bed with BMW, took the brand away from VW (effective in a few years): iht.com Regarding the low end, a better comparison for Emachines, so far a fierce competitor and by all accounts extremely successful, might be Volkswagen itself. Weren't Bugs first dismissed on similar grounds? -mb

Edamo, I don't think you've owned RR long enough. I remember them going bankrupt in the fifties. I could be wrong as I don't follow the co. closely and I am just working from memory. But how much profit have they made over the years selling every vehicle they make? As an owner, you should be able to give us a 10 year run of eps.

It is nice to know that the number of computers selling below $1000 is just my spreading of disinformation. Why enter if you don't make money? Because the high end is quickly dying and there is only one other choice. Lock the doors. Dell realizes this. Why don't you? If they stay top end only, their revenues and profits will erode. If they go low end, the inefficiency of their model will destroy their profit margins. Tough game for all. Dell is a tough player, but not an 80 times eps tough enough player.

Best,

MB

PS, I am serious about RR. I don't really know much about them. Guess I should have used Dusenbergs. You probably own them, too. <g>
