I don't dispute that violent crime has increased, and that gun control legislation has also increased. My point was that assuming a causative relationship merely from those two data points is absurd. An assumption of cause could go in either direction, and tells us more about the prejudice of the person making the assumption than it does about the relationship between violent crime and gun control.

My own opinion is that X's post comes closer to identifying the cause of violent crime, and that gun control legislation is a feeble and ineffective response to increased crime rates.

If there is any logic behind the apparent contention that gun control laws induce students to shoot their classmates, I would like to hear it.

By some miracle of technology, I have successfully installed ICQ on this computer without a hitch. Either I'm getting smarter or they've made it more idiot-proof. I assume the latter, with excellent cause.

I'm going back to bed. Goodnight.

Maybe I'll peek at BKS one more time.
