Yeah, that really sucks. I was pissed at Schwab today -- I hope they give me some RAZF IPO shares tonight... One reason I'm opening a non-online broker account that can get good shorts is to short stocks that I hold long in another account when I can't get to that account. You can also short options you're long or buy options you're short. You shouldn't have to go to these lengths, but it's good to have this backup for peace of mind, as the access problems always seem to happen when you need access the most...
