Geoff, I thought Valueman already discussed the severe Inmarsat limitations compared to G* numerous advantages. Are you really saying that G* should be worried about Inmarsat? Fascinating. I've never heard G*/I* or ICO executives discuss Inmarsat as real competition given the Inmarsat "phone" size/other problems. Seems like a canard. all the best, djane

Maybe it's the pre-commercial system hopes and desires vs. post-launch actual customers signed up for reality effect.
Yes, we're both clear on the timing. It's late 4/99 now and G* lovely commercial service rolls out in 9/99. Ya see, the cool part about investing is the looking forward part and making projections about what will be. Sorry to be snide, Geoff, because I enjoy your contribution to the thread, but really...

G* needs 220,000 users for breakeven and only 1M to pay for everything, including G-2 next gen. Do you really believe there won't be enough demand for a high quality/low cost mobile sat telephony system to provide service around the gosh darn planet, including places like China with 1-2% cell penetration and the vast open spaces of the US, Canada and Mexico with 4/22/99 AirTouch statements that they will "max out the G* system" over their territory -- over 200,000 users there alone)? Hell, for the next couple months, I would like the G* share price to go lower myself so I can buy one more traunch. Maybe I should just shut up and hope Wall St/retail investors continue to misunderstand the "extraordinary profit structure" of G*.
Good night to all, djane
