MWS, You have most of the facts already. LU did mention that epac leaves out some of the information that isn't pertinent, therefore compressing further. (If I remember correctly). It would certainly appear that 10x is "somewhat" high. Your numbers are closer to reality. 2. The "standard" is going to be determined by committee. 3. The "market share" will be determined by the "people". who, if history serves, will vote with their $$ for a crossover between quality and storage capacity, (a la VHS/Beta). Influenced by availability of material and cost of material (mp3 is free). Encoding will fit in there somewhere. All IMO only. Best, Savant
