Hi, folks!

Back from a little R&R down in south Florida (which included doing a little marriage-site due diligence at the Cheeca Lodge in the Keys, (which I highly recommend, BTW)...

Anyway -- this may be (is probably) totally non-related, but I got a message through Quicken the other day when I was downloading transactions, that the American Express server was going through a major overhaul, which necessitated me re-inputting my PIN, re-downloading, yada, yada...

Anyway -- wonder if their upgrade involves polishing up their ebill presentment capabilities (total, wild speculation on my part)

RK

P.S. -- Looking forward to the countdown to quarterly earnings later today. Hopefully, the release comes out shortly after the bell, so we all don't have to resort to Henny Youngman one-liners to pass the time, like last quarter <g>

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I hope checkfree runs a dual track that both consolidates bills and lets you link with your billers.

I really don't want to be bounced back and forth between websites when I am trying to pay my bills. That's the equivalent of paying every bill in person -- like going to the phone company to pay the phone bill, going to the electric company to pay for electricity, etc.

If the people with whom I do business want to contact me, they can send me e-mail with a link to whatever they are promoting. If I am going to have to wade through pages of advertisments to pay bills online, then I'm going to find another way to pay bills.

Bruce

>>>>If CKFR is bouncing the consumer back and forth on the web for their bills anyway, and the consumer is then offered a small discount by the biller for going biller direct, and the biller has this email database (thanks to the consolidator), what do you think will happen? Our convenience has gone out the window....

E-mail with hot links to the billers web site will not work. It would require consumers to enter multiple (10+) ID's and passwords and lacks integration with FI's. Through the consolidator model, even if the consumer is required to view the bill detail, they will only be required to enter ONE ID and password. Don't under estimate this convenience.

In addition, as a consumer, If I had the following 2 choices...

1. View bill summary data, able to pay bill without viewing bill detail, with limited number of billers.

2. View bill summary data, required to view bill detail in order to pay bill, with more billers

...I would choose number 2. While it would be nice to only have to view summary data, I would rather have more E-Bills available to me. Personally, I will view bill detail anyway.

The real bottleneck, is not consumers, It's Billers!...and never, ever, forget pay-anyone.
