I think reading the article in business week about 2 months ago about the whiz kid who was advising Andy Grove on futures was very insightful. They are building these giant PC machines and letting hte bottom of hte market fill up below them...(palm things).

Kinda like a giant 60's company who had the world by the tail and built ever greater mainframes and then helped themselves out of that business by ignoring the bottom end coming up under them. Lost their whole market in less than 15 years. (IBM...?)

The market for the $4k do everything PC is growing smaller. As more powerful handheld things come out, people will buy 2 or 3 of them for specific purposes, like a WINCE thing to carry when they just want to monitor stocks all day or a PALM thing when they just want to stay connected for organization purposes, or a very smart cell phone to run a part of their business when they need it...
