There are already ample laws on the books that make it a crime to use a weapon of any sort in the perpetration of a crime.

To say that criminal usage of firearms justifies the (unconstitutional) banning of firearms is pure knee-jerk reaction for the shallow thinker. It is like revoking freedom of speech because a minority incites violence through its exhortations. Because the freedom of speech is abused to invoke violence, it should be banned for everyone? Even when it is already a crime to use that freedom in such a way? It is both non-sensical and dangerous to argue such.
