On your other comment about short shares, I believe but do not know for certain that when you place your shares on margin and the stock is loaned out, you lose the right to vote.

Sorry. One of my accounts is margin and I already voted.

Double voting just doesn't make sense to me from a legal - one share one vote - point of view.

You're right, it doesn't...but what if somebody told you that you couldn't vote because you bought shorted shares that somebody already owns. The shares don't come with a scarlet letter. It must be near impossible to tell which shares are which without the certificates.

I don't pretend to have all the answers, just a lot of the questions.
