I am so glad that I am past that stage. I was helping take care of my father's 4-year-old son, who is a hellion on wheels, and I just about died, and I was just substituting for day care! It's hard being the mommy or the daddy of little kids. Not that big kids are all that easy. My husband goes around saying, "I used to be a human being." That's after telling them and telling them and telling them to do something, and hearing, ok, ok, ok, ok, and it never gets done, like "get off the toilet," "do your homework," "clear off the table," "turn off the TV," "turn out the lights." Over and over and over. And then, when they are finally grown up, I guess we'll miss them?

RObotically calm is SOOOOO terrible!!!! Michael-!! ANd that active listening approach is worthless when dealing with the full blown psychosis of near term pregnancy. HAving been married to a litigator, I know there is nothing worse than to be at full rant, happily sharing your misery, indulging in irrationality, and have someone say something LOGICAL. What she wants is to be told that she is an amazing heroic woman, that no other woman could possibly do all that she does, that you are the luckiest man alive, and have no idea how you deserved such an incredible woman for a wife, one who despite the horrors of her life with you, you insensitive lout, still manages to be beautiful and wonderful and saintly. Eight months already! And another new DAR baby!
