Clock speed, memory speed, and bus speed are the primary factors that determine a hardware platform's speed. Remember you can still run x86 on a PC and get the extra performance Charles; so don't worry. This will let you sell your proprietary iron now (while it's still worth something) and buy some PC power ;) SGI sees the trend. They know the UNIX workstation is dead. They've seen this first because 80% of their business was high-end graphic UNIX workstations.
