Cap marketing/admin at $40m in out years.

IMO, this is an invalid assumption. All the big guys are spending serious money on advertizing and portal deals. BIDS will be forced to spend money on aggressive campaigns. If it does not spend money on these deals, it will remain what it is now - a marginal player

BTW, as of Dec 31, 1998 BIDS had only 11 MM in cash and marketable securities.

IMO, BIDS will post greater losses for a minimum of 3 years.

Regards.
Rajiv

Cameron, thank you for your analysis.

However,it appears that you are away off on your marketing/admin. expenses. Last year BIDS had marketing/admin of approx $18 million. If they do $50 mill gross this year that number is not going to decrease to $12 million. It will increase to at least $30 million. This will give them a loss this year of at least $25 million not the $7 million you show. It will be a long term before BIDS shows a profit.

BIDS is in a bind. They desperately need to increase sales. However to do this they have to keep selling below their cost. You can't increase your selling prices when you are trying to grow your market.

I have printed out and saved your projection and we can discuss it as the numbers come out. As the year goes on we will see each quarter if they stay on track with your projections.

While I disagree with your numbers I admire you for posting them.

Al

Cameron, it's looking like you either 1: have much to much time on your hands or 2: you're in love with BII.

PS: your post, which is one of the longest posts in history, cannot be considered quick. I would put it in the "Long Dreamie" category.
