But the thing is, that kind of thing (houses tripling in 5 years) has been going on in the bay area for 20 years! It is nothing new. Maybe it went on in the LA area in the 60s (a non inflationary time) too. There are times when for whatever reason the demographics of a certain area changes. Like when they put the Saturn plant in Tennessee, the next year houses quintuple, I see these things like "story stocks" where they operate in their own market.
