The feeling is mutual. You may be right about nextel, but of all the companies I have ever (or Ebber) invested in, I have the most confidence in the people at the top of wcom (Ebbers and Sidgemore) and Qualcomm (Dr. J and crew). Most other companies, I buy and sell, these two I just buy. I sleep better knowing who's running them. I agree nextel isn't even in the same league as mci or mfs for that matter, but Bernie supposedly paid too much for both of those too. He is a shrewd businessman.

Three years ago I finally coaxed my mom (ultra conservative) to invest some of her retirement egg (out of mutual funds and cds) and into those two companies with the statement that they are the future of communications for the next ten years. I still believe it. I'll throw money at these companies all day long, especially on dips.

FWIW, I know that this is all opinion and no analysis of the nextel deal.
