Why would RNWK "announce" that they "will make announcements". With that statement and todays run up it seems that the with the 'real' announcement the stock will not run up as much.

Bottom line.....is it to late to get in for "Monday's Announcements"

soup,

This post from today's "Jubak's Journal" is a perfect reason why I think that the whole "we have better technology" argument that Apple loves to make is moot:

--------
(Up to this point, Jubak is talking about how getting more and more users reinforces a company's growth prospects)
...

I see one other Internet company that's built around this kind of increasing growth model: RealNetworks (RNWK). The company continues to pump out free downloads of its RealPlayer into the market. The installed base grew by 30% this quarter and now more than 85% of all audio and video content streamed on the Internet is in RealNetworks format. That means the company is on the verge of becoming a standard setter -- one where more and more customers come to the product because of the number that have signed on so far. That means I'd like to own this company.

....

That's what it's all about, soup: standards. Microsoft learned this early on, and Apple still hasn't learned it. You set the standard, you get to call the tune, and the market dances the dance.

Cesare

PS: Jubak goes on to say that $215 is currently a bit pricey, even given the company's bright prospects. He may well be right.
