Nihil, I am really getting tired of this discussion. Newsweek and Nova ar not refereed journals, but they are certainly reputable publications. It will be very interesting to me to read the letters to the editor that this cover story generated, in fact. And I do think you are being academically snobbish. This is a thread at SI, not a forum governed by academic standards of research and scientific proof. It is popular culture, you know, a place to discuss all sorts of things on many different levels. Certainly it is more egalitarian when it is a place where anyone can feel comfortable venturing an opinion, or expressing a feeling, without feeling they must footnote their remarks. I LIKE egalitarianism! Maybe someone should start a thread where pure intellectual argument can take place unblighted by anyone who does not have postdoctoral credentials. Sometimes I just feel like hanging out, writing and unwinding after a long day at the office, or having fun. Intellectual squirmishing does not always feel like fun to me, although of course there should be a place for it at SI if there are enough people who enjoy it. I like "disingenuous", so I will use it. You, too, are quite welcome to use any words you like here, of course.
