Paul,

Re:"Hey - when is the last time you or any of the AMDroids EVEN MENTIONED the SharpEye Kmart 63 ?

This was going to be the Pentium III killer, and now it is MISSING IN ACTION .

If AMD can't deliver volumes of a 118 sq. mm chip (Sharpy) how are they going to "MAGICALLY" MASS MANUFACTURE a chip that is 58% LARGER - the 184 sq. mm. desKtop 7 ?"

I hate to agree with you here.

The lack of production on the K-3 is very worrying.

They MUST be having severe manufacturing problems with it.

The only way they can ship the K-7 will be in 0.18 micron when the die size hits <100mm2.

The best case is Q3/Q4 IMHO for any real K-7 volumes.

The June intro will be good for a pop up in the stock but not much more.

Regards,

Kash

1) Transistor density is lower, so that will be a positive factor in terms of yield. Obviously higher defect density due to larger die size probably more than compensates for this in terms of manufacturability.

2) A number of Tier 1 OEMs are shipping K6-3 based boxes. K6-3 is becoming decently available in the retail channel. That adds up to a lot of chips.

3) Ever hear of .18u?

"We have successfully developed 180-nanometer, six-layer, aluminum interconnect technology to remain at the leading edge and have produced advanced processors using this technology both in our development facility in Sunnyvale, California, and in Fab 25 in Austin, Texas. We are on schedule to introduce 180-nanometer technology into high-volume production in the third quarter of 1999".

paul, re:Hey - when is the last time you or any of the AMDroids EVEN MENTIONED the

why should AMD investors worry? Just becasue K6-3 will be their main revenue source for the rest of this year...OR..Jerry "we need patience" Sanders said AMD will make less than 1M K6-3s in Q2...OR..Jerry used a K7 smoke screen yesterday to diverge attention from the lack of K6-3s..

It's funny to see the same people jump on board ship again after Jerry waves the K7 carrot...

AMD investors have nothing to worry about! <gg>
