Re: Gillette strategy for IDX . . .

I don't see 'per click' happening right away, since the infrastructure isn't quite in place. Even VRSN is charging annual license fees. So I see annual seat charges as the first step, then after the first generation of corporate computers go out with hardware, change to a Gillette strategy two years later with the next generation.

I suspect the "$20" scanner our reporter saw is the present DFR-200 being OEM'd to Compaq, and the smaller $10 model a next generation they will officially unveil at CTST. Those kinds of numbers have to be at cost to IDX, so the business model will need some kind of licensing arrangement . . . and that leads us to a deal with VRSN, as far as I can figure.

If we do get $10 hardware, another major OEM, and VRSN, game over.

Hockeyfan, pay per use - as in e-commerce?
I like the sound of that. It reminds me of WAVX (Wave Systems).
They really have no sales yet, but they have developed sort of a
"pay per view/use" type of system for e-commerce. Their stock shot up from under $4 last January to $29 in early april & has been stable in the mid/low 20's ever since!
No, I'm not trying to tout this stock, as I am out now, but hey,
if IDX (who does have sales) can get this same type of recognition.....
